Today, I've attended the CY Radio 2010 Training Programme. I gave a short introduction of life as a radio presenter; we talked about why they (the new CY Radio memebers) were here and what they want to get out from the training at Battersea Studio Today. We then explored the components that make up a programme, their communication skills and how to running a successful radio station.
Coincidently, it is Spectrum Radio Chinese Programme 20th Birthday, so Joseph (Radio Programme Manager) brought a cake, and we celebrated in style - on air. The Producer has also kindly let me carry out a consultation live on air; new CY Radio members had to prepare a message for David Cameron and his government, we have thousands of feedback from listeners across Britain on issues range from educations to climate changes. The Programme was air on 19th June @ 1800 - 2000 BST.

Meetings with Diplomats
Been incredibly busy for the past few days so just a quick update, I've met with representatives from the Philippines Government at their Embassy in London on Wednesday, as they chair the UN Security Council meeting which passed the UN Sanctions against Iran. We discussed issues such as climate changes, we’ve recognize the prospective from a developing country in Southeast Asia, it was a indeed very rewarding meeting as we were invited to do workshop and talks after the Summit, this is start of the relationship between British Youth and the Philippines government. Mayor of London rejected our request for a meeting before the Summit as Boris is currently in South Africa “studying” the world cup, Bank of England Governor has also rejected our request for a meeting as he will not be attending the Summit.
Thursday, I met with representative from the Embassy of the People's Republic of China, we discuss a number of issues, such as North Korea, the view and approach of China on Nuclear Non-Proliferation; Climate Changes was one of the key topic, we talk about the Copenhagen and how it failed, although China is one of the world third largest economy, however GDP per capital is listed as number 99. Things like that, we also discussed UNFCCC and Kyoto Protocols, Principle of common but differentiate responsibilities, principle of sustainable development, Mitigation, Adaption, technology transfer and Financial support. (I got carried away by climate changes... haha)

Introduction
I'm really pleased to be selected by the Canadian government to represent young people from United Kingdom, over the next few week, I will be blogging here at blogger, to share with you, my experience at the My summit 2010.
Due to the influence and power of the G20 nations, my summit 2010 is chance to discuss a number of social, political and economic issues. While I’m almost certain the youth delegates will differ on certain problem, solution and policies, but our overall agendas are the same – To build a better future for us and generation to come.
My personal motivations to participate in My Summit 2010, first of all is to learn from others and share our good practices here in the United Kingdom, as someone who came from a incredibly diverse background, and have experience working with government ministers and departments, local governments and third sector organisations (specially youth related). I would like to break down barriers, and learn from the other delegates their cultural backgrounds and how they deal with problems, how they learn from mistake and the solutions.
Recovery and New Beginnings –Global Economic Crisis means that governments have tight budget. Most people are still uncertain about their future and that’s why we need a stronger global partnership to stop the GEC happening again.
As the world population grow, we are facing energy and food security problems, G20 nations have always been addicted to oil; we must take this opportunity of the New Beginning to build up our green industries to tackle climate change and environmental Issues. The world mostly agrees that something needs to be done about global warming and climate change. However, the stumbling block has been trying to get an agreement on a framework. Many have been against climate change treaties due to the fear of the threat to the recovery of their economy and profits if they have to make substantial changes. This is an opportunity to promote renewable and sustainable developments.
There are many inter-related issues causing hunger, which are related to economics and other factors that cause poverty. They include land rights and ownership, diversion of land use to non-productive use, increasing emphasis on export-oriented agriculture, inefficient agricultural practices, war, famine, drought, over-fishing, poor crop yields, Corruption is both a major cause and a result of poverty around the world. Corruption affects the poorest the most, whether in rich or poor nations.
Indirect influence as well as direct influence of my summit 2010 is great and far-reaching and I would like to be part of the British delegates to make a difference in the global society. By working together, WE CAN BUILD A BETTER FUTURE!
Before the conference, I would like to empower young people using this opportunities to discuss how they can make a difference. I will meet with student, from universities to secondary school, talk about problem that they too faces. Going to visit Youth group from charities to projects such as UKYP, BYC, Young Advisors…Etc, I hope to be able to hold a debate in each region to discuss about their views and concern and also give young people like myself a chance to talk about pressing issue that young people think it’s important.
I follow up on the work of the summit to ensure that it had made a difference by using web 2.0, social media, and publishing video reports, setting up websites and let the debate continue after the meeting. Once we identified solution, we will support young people to take actions and make a difference starting from their local communities. I would like to be constantly in touch with the other delegates, to see the progress of their projects and the difference they made, learn from their success and have workshop and hold conferences to share the good practices and of course TAKE ACTIONS!
